A safe haven for children and support for the whole family

Our Children’s Short Break homes believe in more than just providing care — we create meaningful experiences where children and young people with learning disabilities and autism can thrive, make connections and grow in confidence.  

Peartree and The Pines offer safe, welcoming environments for fun, friendship, and freedom — all while giving families and carers valuable time to rest and recharge.  

Whether it’s a quiet evening of sensory play or a fun-filled day trip, every moment is tailored to the needs and interests of the young person. Our short breaks support children and young people aged 5 to 18 years, offering personalised, nurturing care in a homely setting.  

• Peartree is a spacious, purpose-built 5-bedroom building featuring a sensory room, soft play area, games room, and tranquil garden space with swings and a trampoline.   

• The Pines offers six large single bedrooms in a bright, fully accessible, single-storey facility with a large sensory room, chill-out room, soft play room, toy room, and enclosed garden for outdoor fun.  

Both homes are fully equipped to support children with complex needs, with accessible bathrooms, bedrooms, and communal areas featuring hoisting equipment to ensure comfort, safety, and inclusion. 

Our highly skilled, compassionate team provides bespoke, one-to-one support, using a child-focused, person-centred approach that empowers children to make choices, build independence, and enjoy new experiences. 

We support children and young people from Hertfordshire, and surrounding areas including Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, and Buckinghamshire. Whether local or further afield, our doors are open to those referred by their local authorities.  

Peartree sits in the heart of Welwyn Garden City and has beautifully designed indoor and outdoor spaces that inspire calm and curiosity.  

The Pines, located on the outskirts of the historic town of Hertford, is just minutes from local schools and green spaces, with excellent transport links including the A10 and A414.
